22 Jul 13.12.2011 – Lucia-Feier 2011 Frankfurt am Main

A bright spot in the dark season: the Lucia -procession of the Swedish Church in Frankfurt visited on the 13th December the Kaiser Saal in Frankfurt. Before the Gregorian calendar was introduced in 1582, the 13th December was considered the longest day of the year. As to the legend Lucia lived in Sicily about 200 year’s a.D. Lucia was a christian and the christians were persecuted around the Mediterranean Sea. Lucia provided her hunted fellow believers with food. To find her way in the dark and to keep her hands free for the gifts she wore a crown of lights on her head.
